The introduction of the new HP OmniBook X marks a significant shift in the company’s approach to consumer laptops. Going forward, the OmniBook line will gradually replace familiar brands like Envy, Pavilion, and Spectre, streamlining the HP notebook purchasing experience. Each consumer device within the OmniBook series will now be identified by a number, ranging from 3 to X, with 3 representing the more affordable options and X denoting the high-end offerings. Notably, select OmniBook models will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip and showcase the new HP AI Helix logo, highlighting their capabilities as AI-enabled laptops.
During an HP briefing session, I had the opportunity to briefly interact with the HP OmniBook X. I was impressed by its lightweight construction and durable aluminum chassis. The 14-inch 2.2K touchscreen display offered a pleasant viewing experience, and the inclusion of a USB-A port for compatibility with legacy devices was appreciated. The performance potential of the Snapdragon X Elite chip also piqued my interest.
The OmniBook X boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip, support for up to 32GB of RAM, and storage options of up to 2TB. Available in Meteor Silver and Ceramic White color variants, its dimensions of 12.32 x 8.8 x 0.5 inches and weight of 2.97 pounds emphasize its portability. Although slightly larger than the 13-inch MacBook Air M3, it remains travel-friendly.
Both color options, Meteor Silver and Ceramic White, complement the sleek design and robust aluminum construction, ensuring the laptop blends seamlessly into any environment, whether it be an office setting or a local café. Despite its slim profile, port selection is somewhat limited, with two USB-C ports, a single USB-A port, and a headphone jack.
As my interaction with the device was brief, I cannot provide an in-depth assessment of the 14-inch 2.2K touch display. Currently, there is no OLED option available, but the screen size should appeal to those accustomed to 14-inch laptops. A comprehensive evaluation of the display’s capabilities will be conducted once the laptop is thoroughly tested.
